Statue of Unity – A Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
The Statue of Unity is built to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a great freedom fighter and the first Home Minister of Independent India.
It is only due to Patel’s effort that we could see a unified India today. Sardar Patel took the ultimate task of uniting all the 562 princely states of pre-independent India and so the statue is named, ‘The Statue of Unity’. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was so courageous that people of India fondly called him ‘The Iron Man of India’.
